Warranty Standards are a suite of user friendly management system standards suited (but not limited) to businesses with fewer resources available. The approach of Warranty Standards is “back to basics” by focusing on the critical elements of effective management systems. The standards use a plain language and are self-explanatory when it comes to the requirements.

Warranty Standards Ltd (the company that developed the Warranty Standards) was established in Auckland, New Zealand in 2004 because of industry demand for user friendly alternatives to the often perceived complicated nature of ISO management system standards for Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems. Since its establishment many companies around the globe have chosen to be certified to these certification programs to demonstrate their compliance needs to their stakeholders.

Until early 2016 Warranty Standards Ltd was a standalone organisation who has published these standards to be used by approved Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) to certify companies. International Certifications Ltd has always offered certification to the Warranty Standards as a user friendly and cost effective alternative to ISO certification. In 2016 Warranty Standards Ltd was acquired by International Certifications Ltd.

Warranty Standards have many benefits over other available certification programs, including:

  • they are not as open to interpretation as other standards.
  • the standards describe the requirements of a full management system and companies wishing to transition to an ISO equivalent certification comply with the same requirements.
  • the Warranty Standards Certification Mark can be used on products & packaging (unlike ISO certification marks).
  • Warranty Standards are customer focused & user friendly (understandable by lay persons).
  • all auditors are individually approved on their expertise just like the approving of the certification companies (CABs) as with ISO certification.

What certification programs are available?

Warranty Standards are available for the most commonly needed management system certifications. Below is a list and brief overview of each of the available certification programs.

Eco Warranty:2016

Eco Warranty is a user friendly simple to use alternative to ISO 14001. While this standard addresses all requirements of an EMS compliant with ISO 14001, it is much easier to implement and maintain. Consequently implementation is usually less resource intensive and more cost effective. This makes Eco Warranty a perfect alternative for small to medium size organisations. However, all types of organisations can achieve certification to this standard from primary producers, packing sheds, transport companies, fruit and produce agents, manufacturing companies, civil engineering, construction, through to professional service providers and retailers.

  • consumers are more likely to know what Eco Warranty is rather than ISO 14001
  • the standard has been laid out in a simple user friendly format
